DEPARTMENT PROFILE – DEPARTMENT OF LIBRARY SCIENCE

The Department of Library Science at SKR Government Degree College (Women), Rajamahendravaram, is committed to supporting the academic needs of students and faculty by providing access to a wide range of learning and information resources. The college library has a collection of 23,072 books, comprising 8,562 titles and 6,433 reference books, along with 12 magazines and 8 newspapers, to support teaching, learning, and research.

The Department promotes reading habits and encourages students to make effective use of library resources to enhance their knowledge and academic performance. It also facilitates awareness of digital learning resources such as N-LIST and ONOS, subject to institutional access and eligibility, to support access to e-books, e-journals, and scholarly information.

The Department aims to develop information literacy, digital literacy, research skills, and independent learning among students. It encourages the effective use of information resources for academic assignments, projects, examinations, and overall development.
